Honoring the Past, Strengthening the Future
More than 70 years ago, during the Korean War (1950–1953), millions of lives were upended, and countless young soldiers from across the globe, especially the United States, came to a distant land to defend freedom and democracy. Over 36,000 American troops made the ultimate sacrifice, and many more were wounded or forever changed.
Without their courage and commitment, the Republic of Korea would not be the free, prosperous democracy it is today. From a war-torn nation to one of the world's leading economies and vibrant democracies, South Korea's story is only possible because of the foundation laid by those who served.
At KORUS, we believe it is our duty — and privilege — to preserve the memory of these heroes and to deepen the Korea-U.S. alliance that continues to shape peace and freedom in the region. While many veterans have now passed, their legacy lives on through their families, and we hope to reach them with a message:
KORUS — a chorus of gratitude. We remember. We are grateful. We stand with you.
70 여 년 전, **한국전쟁(1950–1953)**은 수많은 사람들의 삶을 송두리째 바꿔 놓았습니다. 자유와 민주주의를 수호하기 위해, 특히 미국을 비롯한 전 세계의 젊은 군인들이 낯선 땅에 발을 디뎠고, 그중 36,000 명 이상의 미군이 목숨을 바쳤으며, 수많은 이들이 부상을 입거나 평생 지울 수 없는 상처를 안고 돌아갔습니다.
그들의 용기와 헌신이 없었다면, 오늘날 자유롭고 번영하는 대한민국은 존재할 수 없었을 것입니다. 폐허 속에서 시작된 한국은 이제 세계를 선도하는 경제 대국이자 활기찬 민주주의 국가로 성장했으며, 이 모든 이야기는 그들의 희생 위에 세워졌습니다.
KORUS 는 이러한 영웅들의 기억을 보존하고, 한반도와 아시아 지역의 평화와 자유를 지탱하는 한미 동맹을 더욱 굳건히 하는 것이 우리의 책임이자 영광이라 믿습니다. 많은 참전 용사들이 세상을 떠났지만, 그들의 유산은 가족들을 통해 살아 숨 쉬고 있으며, 저희는 그들에게 이렇게 전하고 싶습니다.

A name that echoes the word chorus, symbolizing unity and harmony — stands for Korea + US. Our organization was founded to honor the brave individuals who served in the Korean War, particularly American soldiers and their families. Through simple acts of remembrance — a gift box, a pin bearing the flags of Korea and the United States, and a heartfelt message of gratitude — we aim to express what words alone cannot.
KORUS 는 '합창(chorus)'을 연상시키는 이름으로, 하나됨과 조화를 상징합니다. Korea(한국)와 US(미국)를 의미하는 이 이름처럼, 저희는 한국전쟁에 참전한 용사들, 특히 미국 군인들과 그 가족들의 헌신을 기리고자 설립된 단체입니다. 작은 선물 상자, 한미 양국의 국기가 새겨진 뱃지, 그리고 진심 어린 감사의 메시지로 말로는 다 전할 수 없는 감사를 표현하고자 합니다.
About Us
단체 소개
We are a group of high school students who deeply recognize and appreciate the tremendous sacrifices made by those who fought for freedom and democracy—especially the American service members who came to defend South Korea during the Korean War. At the time, many of them were sent to a country they had never heard of, yet they stood on the front lines to protect a people they didn’t know. Their courage laid the foundation for the thriving, free society we live in today.
As time passes, we are also aware that the number of surviving Korean War veterans is steadily declining. That reality has moved us to take action—because now, more than ever, is the time to remember and honor them.
Through our KORUS Box project, we hope to express our sincere gratitude to Korean War veterans and their families. Each small gift box represents a heartfelt “thank you” from the younger generation—those who now benefit from the freedoms and opportunities that were made possible by their sacrifice. While our gesture may be small, our appreciation is deep and lasting.
We also plan to launch new projects and initiatives in the future to continue honoring this legacy. If you have ideas or would like to collaborate, we warmly welcome your input.

저희는 자유와 민주주의를 지키기 위해 싸운 분들, 특히 한국전쟁 당시 한국이라는 나라가 어디에 있는지도 잘 몰랐던 시기에 그 먼 땅에 와서 목숨을 걸고 싸워주신 미국 참전 용사들의 희생과 헌신을 깊이 감사히 여기는 고등학생들입니다. 그분들의 용기와 희생이 없었다면, 오늘날 우리가 누리는 자유롭고 번영한 대한민국은 존재하지 않았을 것입니다.
세월이 흐르며 한국전쟁 참전 용사분들의 수는 점점 줄어들고 있습니다. 바로 지금이, 그분들을 기억하고 기리는 것이 더욱 절실한 때라 생각합니다.
저희는 KORUS 박스를 통해 참전 용사분들과 그 가족들에게 진심 어린 감사의 마음을 전하고자 합니다. 이 작은 선물 상자 하나하나에는, 지금의 자유와 기회를 누리고 있는 젊은 세대가 그 희생을 결코 잊지 않겠다는 다짐과 마음이 담겨 있습니다. 선물은 작을지 몰라도, 저희의 감사는 깊고 오래 지속될 것입니다.
